This course provides an introduction to European integration process and development of the European Union (EU) from the historical, political, legal and socio-economic perspectives. It examines the main EU institutions and the basic legal aspects of European integration. Moreover, this course provides insights regarding the policy-making process at the EU level, as well as it offers an overview of the main theories and concepts applied in the analysis of European integration. Correspondingly, the course enables students to develop critical understanding of the major current issues concerning the European Union.
1. Understand major historical, political, legal and socio-economic features of European integration process and development of the European Union; 2. Differentiate the roles and functions of the main EU institutions; 3. Comprehend basic legal aspects of European integration and interpret founding EU treaties; 4. Understand the main features of the policy-making process at the EU level and demonstrate understanding of the major theoretical and conceptual approaches to European integration; 5. Present and debate major current issues concerning the European Union.

1. Regular class attendance - at least 70% of class attendance; 2. Fulfilled obligations of seminar presentation and teamwork; 3. Achieving a minimum of 35% of grade during classes within assigned course activities - cumulatively achieved by seminar presentation, teamwork and midterm exam.
Continuous evaluation of student’s work through:
1) Course activities: seminar presentation, teamwork and midterm exam;
2) Final written exam (min. 50% of correct answers is needed to pass the final exam).
